USAP Board Member Zerwas Honored for Hospital Advocacy Efforts

The Texas Hospital Association (THA) presented Rep. John Zerwas, M.D., with the Texas Hospital Advocacy Tribute Award for his legislative work on behalf of good hospital and health care policy.

Dr. Zerwas, who is a USAP board member and Director of Business Development for Greater Houston Anesthesiology, has served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives since 2007.

“Rep. Zerwas’ commitment to good health care policy and his pragmatic approach to tackling the toughest political issues are to be applauded,” said Ted Shaw, THA president/chief executive officer. “His work in the 83rd Legislature to secure adequate funding for Texas health care services and to expand graduate medical education in the state demonstrate his commitment to the people of District 28 as well as a resolve to do what is right for patients and Texas hospitals.”

Dr. Zerwas is a three time winner of the award, having previously received it in 2009 and 2011. In addition to his work in the Texas House of Representatives, Dr. Zerwas served as President of the American Society of Anesthesiologists from 2012-2013. He has been a practicing anesthesiologist for over 30 years.
