Ravi Bissessar, MD, Central Florida

Dr. Bissessar joined USAP (formerly known as JLR) and Florida Hospital/Advent Health in July 2006 after leaving Duke University Medical Center. He has served on numerous committees and spearheaded several initiatives with the purpose of promoting better and safer patient care. As a managing partner at USAP-Fl and as a member of Advent Health’s Executive Medical Staff Leadership he has focused his attention on cardiovascular services, thoracics, robotics, transplant services, EPS, Echo lab, Cardiology, Radiology, Infection Control, CMS, OSHA, Medication Management and Safety, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Blood Management and Utilization, Quality Assurance and OR Efficiency strategies.
Dr. Bissessar has transplant anesthesiology expertise in the perioperative management of liver, kidney, pancreas, heart and lung transplantation. He was instrumental in establishing Advent Health’s/Florida Hospital's Liver Transplantation and the Heart and Lung Transplantation Programs, along with its Ventricular Assist Device and Destination Programs .
Dr. Bissessar completed his fellowship in Cardiothoracic and Critical Care at Duke University Medical College in Durham, North Carolina, as well as a board certification in Echocardiography. Prior to that, he received Diplomate in Anesthesiology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was Chief Resident. He earned his medical degree, and his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Science from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
