USAP Board Member Zerwas to be Honored for Service by Texas Society of Anesthesiologists

USAP is proud to announce that our very own Representative John Zerwas, M.D. will be honored by the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists (TSA) with the 2015 Distinguished Service Award. The ceremony will take place during the TSA Annual Meeting on Saturday, September 12 at La Cantera Hill Country Resort in San Antonia, Texas.

Representative Zerwas currently serves as Texas House Representative of District 28 and USAP Board Member. Dr. Zerwas has also served as the president of Greater Houston Anesthesiology (GHA) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).

A physician for more than 30 years, Representative Zerwas remains one of three doctors in the Texas House of Representatives. He currently serves as Chair for the House Committee on Higher Education and is an advocate for graduate medical education and increasing access to higher education. In addition, Representative Zerwas also sits on the Committee on Public Health, where he brings firsthand experience and knowledge to his committee.

Outside his service, Representative Zerwas has been an integral part of shaping USAP into the organization it is today. We are very grateful for his contributions to GHA and USAP as well as his continued advocacy for the medical field.

This is just one of several awards Representative Zerwas has won over the years. Representative Zerwas has been named one of the “Ten Best Legislators” by Texas Monthly, has been recognized by the Texas Medical Association as a “Friend of Medicine”, and Texas Hospital Association as a “Texas Hospital Advocate” for his commitment to healthcare for Texans.
